Samsung N120 Netbook – A Great Mobile Computer To Have

Published by at 04:31 under General Reviews

It wouldn´t have surprised me if Samsung would have decided to name it’s N120 Netbook as a new NC model: the NC15. That would be easily explained by the fact that it presents the combination of a compact design, the known Atom processor of the NC10 model along with the comfy and full size width of the NC20. We could place the N120 in a metamorphose position if only it wasn´t presented with a unique sound system in a netbook version.

Providing the N120 in two different colors (black and white) Samsung also added an inteligent matte finish which prevents the chassis from having unwanted fingerprint marks on it. It is also equipped with two speakers on each side of the LCD pannel which were only possible because of the keyboard size. Speaking of which, this keyboard would easily be qualifeied as the most comfortable one of all the 10” netbooks. All-in-all it has a good layout with full-sized keys. The downside of it is the smaller spacebar created to make the tilde key possible.

Aside the two small speakers the Samsung N120 utilizes them with a carefully placed subwoofer. A killer combination when it comes to sound quality in netbooks. With this it is possible to get more volume as well as clarity of sound. This makes this netbook a smart choice for road-watching movies but, of course, it shouldn’t substitute your room speakers.

What seems to be gaining a lot of importance lately is the crave from consumers to have a “full-day” lasting battery.Naturally if you need to spend a lot of hours working away from home you will need it. In this context the N120 stands up as one of the leaders with a 7 to 8 easily lasting hours when it comes to normal netbook using (web browsing, e-mail checking, Office usage). It pretty much knocks every other adversary out of the ring. Tested, the N120 lasted 5:50 hours streaming videos through a wi-fi connection which can be pointed as a really good performance. Its battery is expected to last more than 8 hours for simple web browsing.

In an overview the Samsung N120′s most important achievement is the attaching of a full-sized keyboard in a 10” netbook. Following that aspect comes the including of a 2.1 SRS sound-system turning it a unique piece of netbook in the market. The last but not least important aspect is the up to 10.5 hour lasting battery as does also Asus Eeepc 1005 HA. Conclusion is that it’s a comfortable, long-lasting and pleasant netbook to use and see.

Here’s a list of pros and cons that might help you in choosing the best netbook:

- Pros -
.Bright & shiny display
.Easily upgradable RAM
.Matte instead of a glossy material meaning no risk of fingerprints on the chassis.
.First 10” netbook with a normal width keyboard layout

.Abnormally lasting battery lasting 7-8 or more hours
.Great portable movie & sound playback
.Only 1.3Kg of weight (battery included)
